It's the dream trip before they land their dream jobs.

Ten students studying QUT's Bachelor of Entertainment Industries degree have just returned to Brisbane after a three-week Bollywood trip to India.

The trip was one of four different international study tours that final-year students can choose from to hone their industry skills, with France, Florida and Japan also on the university's itinerary.

Lecturer Joe Carter, who accompanied the students to India, said they focused on Bollywood film and marketing.

"We had meetings with film directors, producers, casting agents and script writers and went to two film premieres in Mumbai as well as visiting film sets and sets of TV shows such as daily soap operas," he said.

The students also took time out to do a Bollywood dance class ... and this Thursday they will show off their new moves in an informal flash mob routine at QUT's Kelvin Grove campus at 12 noon outside A Block.

"My students are not dance students - they're not going to win Australia's Got Talent - but they have fun!," Mr Carter said.

Fortunately for the students, their Mumbai study tour was subsidised through the Australian Government's New Colombo Plan, which offers Australian undergraduates scholarships and grants for study and internships/mentorships in the Indo Pacific region.

Mr Carter said QUT's Bachelor of Entertainment Industries was the only entertainment industries degree offered in Australia, and one of only three degree programs in the world.

"We're training the students to become producers in the global market of entertainment," he said.

"They have diverse destinations ranging from film and TV to working on live festivals and on cruise ships.

"Entertainment is a recession-proof industry and is projected to be worth $2.1 trillion globally by 2017."
