QUT is calling on the Brisbane community to nominate unsung heroes, community leaders or other extraordinary people to be the subjects of an amazing series of 3D portraits.

The QUT Creative Industries Precinct is coordinating the search on behalf on the "Simulacrum" 3D portrait project by media artists Cake Industries (Jesse Stevens and Dean Petersen).

Using contemporary experimental processes and 3D printing techniques, Cake Industries will create three-dimensional portraits of the chosen sitters over the next few weeks.

The final portraits will then be included in a new media exhibition, Experimenta Recharge: the 6th International Biennial of Media Art, at The Block in the QUT Creative Industries Precinct at Kelvin Grove from August 25 to September 26, 2015.

Nominees could be an influential or prominent member of the community deserving of recognition, someone inspirational from a club or organisation that you are involved with, or someone you know who you just think is awesome.

To nominate, please email ciprecinct@qut.edu.au by Monday, August 3, with the name of your nominee and a short paragraph on why they stand out in the community. For more information, please contact Rachael Parsons on 07 3138 5495.

Cake Industries' work will also feature at QUT's Robotronica event on August 23, including the Inner Worlds and Right of Way art installations.
