QUT Classic puts 1300 runners to the test: Grab your running gear and get ready for the third annual QUT Classic on May 3 - a family-friendly fundraising fun run (or walk) aimed at all ages.

Shock horror: Humour persuades young males to slow down: Graphic, strong threat or fear-based anti-speeding advertising campaigns are less likely to influence young males, a high-risk group over-represented in the nation's road toll, QUT research has found.

QUT hosts Domestic Violence Symposium: An Australian woman dies every week as a result of domestic violence. Judges, lawyers, social workers, researchers and victims of domestic violence will meet in Brisbane tomorrow (Tuesday 21 April) to seek improvements to the way cases are handled in the justice system.

2015 Arrow Energy QUT Indigenous Scholarships announced: Three Brisbane QUT students and another from Cairns have been named as the recipients of the 2015 Go Further Indigenous Tertiary Scholarships sponsored by Arrow Energy.

New flood-resistant QUT Gardens Point ferry terminal opens: The new flood-resistant QUT Gardens Point ferry terminal has opened to the public with the promise of being strong enough to withstand a one-in-500-year flood event.

QUT creative writing graduate a 2015 Stella Prize contender for first book: A QUT creative writing graduate now working on a novel about Aboriginal relationships with megafauna has been shortlisted for the prestigious $50,000 2015 Stella Prize for outstanding Australian women writers.

QUT Nikon Small World Competition: The QUT Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition has been launched and this year the annual student and staff competition has been expanded to include high school students across the Brisbane and Caboolture regions.

- Professor Axel Bruns' spoke to The Courier-Mail about the potential pitfalls for businesses using social media campaigns.
- The Courier-Mail also featured creative industries graduate Ellen van Neerven who has made the shortlist for the Stella prize with her first novel.
- Nicole Flanagan's study into a non-medicated treatment for the baby blues was reported across the News Corp network.
- News Corp, Brisbane Times and 4ZZZ reported the opening of the new ferry terminal at Gardens Point.
- ABC 612 sought Professor Chris Eves' expert opinion on the proposed 1000 apartment development at Yeerongpilly.
- ABC Far North's breakfast progam interviewed the local facilitator of QUT's PEACH program which is being rolled out in Cairns for the first time. The Cairns Post, Gladstone Observer, Gympie Times, Redcliffe & Bayside Herald, North Lakes Times, Pine Rivers Express and Ipswich Satellite also ran stories about the program.
- The Pharmaceutical Journal covered Dr Esther Lau's research showing one in ten patients modify their medication to overcome swallowing difficulties.
- Dr Jonathan Peake's research that found icing may not be the best way to treat an injury was covered by Prevention magazine.
- Professor Ross Crawford's research into hip replacements leeching metal was mentioned in a Fairfax article.
- ATSE Focus magazine featured Professor James Dale (page 51) and the opening of the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision (page 46).
- Chinese TV news featured QUT's Baxter and the opening of the ACRV, including v.ifeng.com and CCTV.
- Professor Amanda Lee's comments about lunchbox fruit juices being linked to childhood weight gain received international attention, including XKB.
- qutbluebox start-up Tanda told Business Acumen why it was donating proceeds from Brisbane's inaugural Open Data Hackathon to students at QUT and other universities.
- Dr Nick Suzor's comments about a looming New Zealand court battle over geoblocking websites featured in stories from PC World, Good Gear Guide and CIO NZ.
- Weekend Notes featured the chainsaw arts scattered across the QUT's Kelvin Grove campus.
- Dr Hong Son Ngheim's research findings that public schools are as good as private was reported by Channel 7, Brisbane Times, and APN.
- Moustache Magazine previewed the upcoming exhibition, The New Aesthetic?, opening soon at The Block.
- Arts Review featured creative industries alumnus and CEO of Metro Arts Dr David Fenton.
- ARCAA's partnership with Kansas State University to develop ways for UAVs to detect pests and diseases in crops was reported by and Midwest Producer and Midwest Messenger.
- Professor Axel Bruns' Conversation article outlining the March Australian Twitter News Index was republished by MyGC and Australian Business.
- Also on The Conversation, Professor Brian McNair explored why critiques of Islam in the media don't constitute racism or 'islamophobia'.
