- QUT student Joe Burns' call up to the Australian Boxing Day test cricket side was covered by media across the country including AAP, The Courier-Mail and The Sydney Morning Herald.

- Associate Professor Mark Lauchs told news.com.au, including The Australian, and ABC Radio National Breakfast the siege in Sydney was not a terrorist attack, while Associate Professor Jane Shakespeare-Finch's expertise on what the hostages went through and their road to recovery was also covered by the news.com.au network.

- Associate Professor Mark Lauchs also spoke to 4BC about the reduction in bikie membership since the start of Taskforce Maxima

- Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Coaldrake was included in The Australian's list of the 50 most influential people in higher education in 2014.

- The Courier-Mail featured the success of QUT graduate Thea Baumann's interactive nails and mobile app making waves in China and QUT CEA's investment in the company was covered by Startup Smart.

- Associate Professor Mia Woodruff spoke to The Courier-Mail about QUT's inaugural masters of biofabrication.

- Dr Gary Mortimer told Channel 9 News, ABC and 4BC that he wasn't sure 2014 would be the best Christmas since the Global Financial Crisis in terms of spending.

- Dr Mary Crawford was interviewed on 4BC Morning in relation to the Abbott Cabinet reshuffle.

- CSIRO's Ecos magazine featured Professor Peter Talbot's research into longer-lasting lithium batteries for electric cars.

- The Koori Mail featured Dr Odette Best's research highlighting the unsung work of Indigenous nurses.

- Professor Steve Stern told the Sunshine Coast Daily about his Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method being used in international limited-overs cricket matches

- Professor Lisa Nissen had an article in Australian Pharmacist on how strips of cured salted pork were used to stem an uncontrollable nosebleed in a young girl with a rare blood disorder. Professor Nissen was also quoted in an article that Australia could follow the trend in England where pharmacies are being given the go-ahead to deliver vaccinations in the same publication.

- The Brisbane Times highlighted QUT's visual arts students who exhibited their works in the heart of New York City with their Fordham University counterparts.

- mX featured Dr Cassandra Cross's research into victims of online dating scams

- City North News reported QUT art students had been given exhibition space at the TransLink Centre for Service Excellence

- Engineers Australia magazine spoke with Dr Earnest Foo on cyber attacks and how many of them come from organised crime networks, not just nation states.

- QUT alumna and Optometry Australia National President Kate Gifford addressed graduating optometry students with the speech covered by Optometry Australia.

- Dr Nicolas Suzor and Suzannah Wood's The Conversation piece stating Facebook and Google have a moral duty to stop online abuse was republished by Australasian Science.

- Professor Axel Bruns published November's Australian Twitter News Index on The Conversation.
