QUT and Adani Australia have signed an agreement that will see the University help to develop dynamic and innovative leaders for the growing multinational business conglomerate.

Adani is building an integrated mine, rail and port project, encompassing its mine at Carmichael, near Clermont, the North Galilee Basin Rail linking Carmichael to the port at Abbot Point, and expanding Abbot Point to drive vital export and jobs growth for the graduates in this state.

In building an Australian team to take on this complex task, the company recognised the need to enhance leadership capability for it to be nimble and globally competitive in today's tough resources market.

QUT Graduate School of Business will provide a series of workshops, individual and team coaching for Adani executives and emerging leaders throughout 2015. Yesterday, the first of five workshops for Adani executives was held at the QUT Graduate School of Business.

QUT Graduate School of Business Executive Director, Bob O'Connor, said the Adani Leadership Excellence and Development Program would challenge Adani leaders to think holistically and make decisions in the best interest of all stakeholders.

"Our customised executive education programs are highly sought after because they transform individuals and ignite performance through improved leadership and decision making," Mr O'Connor said.

"We are delighted to be partnering with Adani and will ensure their senior executives are equipped with the leadership skills needed to meet the company's strategy, vision and future business goals."

Adani's Australian Country Head and Mining CEO, Jeyakumar Janakaraj, said QUT had
impressed the mining and infrastructure company with its proven and innovative approaches to executive education.

"We are pleased to partner with QUT in delivering this program. Today's announcement is yet another example of Adani's commitment to building a long-term future with Queensland," Mr Janakaraj said.

"Ensuring our executive team in Australia demonstrate agility in their decision-making through the best educational programs available will be key to ensuring we deliver our integrated mine, rail and port project, which will provide 10,000 jobs, $22 billion in taxes and royalties for this state, and opportunities for small and medium size businesses," added Mr Janakaraj.

The quality of programs provided by QUT Business School was acknowledged earlier this year, when the school was one of only three Australian institutions to feature in the prestigious world ranking of Executive Education providers from the UK Financial Times.
