8th September 2014

Fashionistas of Brisbane, listen up. You can get the latest offerings from over 30 emerging and established designers at the QUT Fleet Store which blooms for just 10 days at the start of Spring - between 15 to 29 September.

A range of accessories, jewellery, garments, artwork and zines from current QUT fashion students, staff and alumni will be on sale including pieces from Endless Second, SOOT by Edwina Sinclair, House of Cards and Holly Ryan Jewellery, plus shoes and accessories.

"It's a chance to pick up something unique and support a young designer at the same time," Ellie Price, this year's student Fleet Store PR spokesperson said.

Each year QUT's graduating dual degree fashion and business students plan, manage, market and run The Fleet Store putting all their expertise in both design and business into a real-world context for the benefit of Brisbane fashion lovers.

"The store is an opportunity for business and design students to put into practice what we have learnt, and test our skills in a real market," Ms Price said.

"We had to secure financing and do a feasibility report to make sure we could break even and make a profit."

Ms Price also spoke about how QUT interior design and industrial design students have collaborated with the Fleet Store team to design the fixtures and fittings for the store that this year will be held in Old Government House on Gardens Point campus.

The Fleet Store provides a platform for emerging designers to present their work to the public for the first time. It has allowed the Brisbane public access to pick up a unique or one-off product while supporting the emerging fashion designers and creatives in Brisbane.
