MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS

- The Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame 2014 inductees received coverage across the state including in the Brisbane Times, the Courier-Mail, the Queensland Times (page 1) and 612ABC Brisbane, who interviewed our Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Little.
- Justice sessional academic and former politician John Mickel shared his views on the LNP backlash from the Stafford by-election with 612 ABC's Steve Austin. The Fairfax network also ran his opinion piece on the by-election.
- SBS talked to Assoc Prof Axel Bruns about why Rhianna's Palestine tweet/delete was bad strategy.
- Prof Amanda Lee featured in a story about sugar-filled foods in the West Australian's Health + Medicine magazine.
- The APN network across Queensland ran a positive review of dance performance, The Red Shoes, involving QUT alumni Natalie Weir (choreographer) and Elise May (dancer), as well as 17 students from across the Creative Industries Faculty.
- Associate Professor Warwick Pearse lent his OH&S expertise to a Wynnum Herald story about a resident's complaint about loud music.
- QUT's Grocery Doctor, Dr Gary Mortimer, told news.com.au Australians have a way to go before we accept camel, cane toad and sea urchin on our dinner plates.
- The Australian also sought Dr Mortimer's opinion on a shopping study that tracked the nation's top 50 grocery buys.
- International coverage of Prof Debra Anderson and Dr Charlotte Seib's research into the health benefits of older women exercising continued, with an article in AsianScientist.
- QUTCEA's involvement in helping the next-gen online fashion retailer tap into the $6 billion US prom market made Ragtrader, StartUp Smart and the Courier-Mail.
- The Conversation ran pieces by Prof Terry Flew, Yanto Browning, Assoc Prof Linda Graham, Dr Ben Goldsmith, Darryl Woodford & Katie Prowd, Prof Amanada Lee & Deanne Minniecon, and Prof Brian McNair.

Business innovators earn place in Hall of Fame: Iconic enterprises and innovative entrepreneurs from the state's rich business history have been honoured with a permanent place in the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame.

QUT graduation ceremonies signal new chapter: More than 2200 QUT students will celebrate the culmination of their university studies at QUT's mid-year graduation ceremonies on July 22, 23 and 24.

Aussie firm brings fast fashion to US prom market: Seed funding from Australia's only dedicated investment fund for the creative industries is helping a next-generation online fashion retailer tap into the $6 billion international formal and prom market.

Nonprofit organisations depend on staff's altruism and goodwill: Cuts to welfare, health and social services combined with reduced state government funding of charitable organisations mean nonprofits will have to depend more and more on the goodwill of volunteers and staff.

Creativity set to become crucial life skill: With recent international research finding computerisation will potentially make one half of all jobs in the US redundant within the next 20 years, QUT's corporate education leader says there needs to be a radical rethink about how schools, universities and workplaces prepare people for change.
