QUT's Master of Business (Applied Finance) has retained its place as the only Australian university course to feature in a prestigious world ranking from the UK Financial Times.

It is the second year in a row the course, which sits within the QUT Business School, has been named as the only Australian university program in the leading Global Masters in Finance pre-experience ranking.

The international rankings feature the top 45 Masters in Finance programs from across the world.

QUT Business School Executive Dean Robina Xavier said the ranking showed the real-world skills taught on campus were equipping graduates with the skills to thrive in the finance sector in Australia and overseas.

"It's gratifying to know our long standing focus on providing high quality applied finance programs is being recognised at the international level," she said.

The rankings are based on criteria including the views and employment outcomes of recent graduates, graduate salaries and qualifications of academics and teaching staff.

Dr David Willis, the subject area co-ordinator for post graduate applied finance, said the course benefited from having staff with extensive practical industry experience.

"Our teaching staff have backgrounds in academia but also invaluable experience as professionals in accounting, banking and superannuation," he said.

"That combination of knowledge is vital for passing on industry expertise to our students."

It is the latest success for QUT Business School, the country's first business school to earn the Triple crown of international accreditations, after it was one of only three Australian institutions to feature in the Financial Times world ranking of Executive Education providers released last month.
