Bribie Island State High School twins Tylah and Lachlan Morgan were among 157 Year 10 students from seven schools north of Brisbane to attend the latest Explore Uni Camp at QUT.

QUT hosts the camps four times each year to give school students a chance to visit a university and get a preview of what it would be like to be a uni student.

Tylah and Lachlan and other local students were able to hear first-hand stories from QUT student ambassadors, who shared some insights into university life and took them to the Careers and Employment Expo at South Bank.

The seven state high schools to take part were Bribie Island, Morayfield, Deception Bay, Woodford, Tullawong, Pine Rivers and Clontarf.

The students visited QUT's Caboolture campus and Gardens Point campus (in the Brisbane CBD) and took part in activities ranging from codebreaking challenges to visiting medical laboratories.

The three-day camp was based at the YMCA Camp Warrawee grounds at Joyner, about 40 minutes north of Brisbane.

QUT's Explore Uni Camps are part of the university's Widening Participation program which aims to increase aspiration for tertiary studies from schools in lower SES communities.

Most of the students go to shorter Explore Uni on-campus events during Years 6 to 9 before attending a camp.
