QUT will play a key role in developing future public sector leaders, having been chosen to deliver a graduate course across Australia, following a competitive tender process.

Public servants from Commonwealth, State, Territory and Local Government agencies throughout the country will be able to complete a Graduate Certificate in Business (Public Sector Management) offered by QUT.

Since its inception in 1991, the PSMP has become something of an institution in the public sector, known for helping develop mid-level managers with the skills to create public value for their organisations and communities.

The program is currently delivered in all capital cities with approximately 400 commencing enrolments annually.

The Australian Public Service Commissioner, Stephen Sedgwick AO FIPAA, said the public sector was looking forward to a collaborative partnership with QUT in delivering this longstanding and unique programme which has been successfully completed by 10,000 students across the three tiers of government.

QUT Vice Chancellor, Professor Peter Coaldrake AO was delighted the university would play such a critical role in shaping the future public sector.

"Workforce capability is an ever increasing priority as state and federal governments implement reforms designed to efficiently and effectively increase service delivery and stakeholder satisfaction," he said.

"QUT brings a wealth of expertise in the 'business of government' and as the national provider we will be working collectively with all governments to refresh the core curriculum and individually with each jurisdiction to contextualise the program to meet local priorities."

For the past three years, QUT has been the Queensland delivery agent and is now the single national provider.

Teaching commences for the six-year contract next year in all States and Territories.
