Business Leaders to be honoured

Some of Queensland's greatest business leaders will be honoured on Thursday August 2 at the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame 2012 Induction Dinner.

This annual event, first held in 2009, sees a distinguished group of business leaders inducted into the Hall of Fame at a gala dinner, to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame is a joint initiative involving Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Business School, the State Library of Queensland and the Queensland Library Foundation.

The current list of 28 inductees includes Qantas, the Ray White Group, Castlemaine Perkins, Steve Irwin, Dr Clem Jones AO, Golden Circle Limited, Graham "Skroo" Turner, Bundaberg Distilling Company, A.P Eagers Limited and Terry White AO and Rhonda White.

This year's inductees, to be announced at the dinner, will be recognised for their contribution to the reputation of Queensland and its economic and social development.

The dinner will be presided over by Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, Governor of Queensland with national television broadcaster, Sharyn Ghidella as master of ceremonies.

QUT Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Peter Little said that the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame had become an important legacy for the state of Queensland.

"Before this Hall of Fame was established, there was a significant gap in the recording, retelling and celebrating of business leadership excellence in Queensland," he said.

"The QUT Business School, in conjunction with the State Library of Queensland now provides a permanent public record of this history that can be readily accessed by future generations," Professor Little said.

"The Induction Dinner is the annual culmination of this initiative and is a celebration that the Queensland business community looks forward to every year."

Early bird tickets for the 2012 Induction Dinner are now on sale at www.halloffame.slq.qld.gov.au.
