Stuart Cunningham joins Creative Industries taskforce

Stuart Cunningham has been appointed to a new industry-led body to support growth, innovation and productivity in the creative industries sector in New South Wales.

He will join other industry leaders in fashion, publishing, advertising, and film and television on the NSW government's Creative Industries Taskforce announced this week.

Professor Cunningham is a distinguished professor of media and communications at QUT and director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation (CCI) based at Kelvin Grove campus.

"I am pleased to be appointed to the taskforce, enabling me to bring the most relevant research to bear, and contribute to plans for the long term sustainability and growth of the creative industries in NSW," Professor Cunningham said.

The Creative Industries Taskforce will identify industry-led initiatives and government actions to support the state's creative industries.

A draft report will be released in August, with the final 10-year development strategy to be presented to the NSW Government by September 2012.
