Ceramics have experienced a revival in contemporary art and design and this exhibition explores the last five decades of work by Australia's leading practioners.
The low-tech approach of ceramics, combined with a yearning to slow down in an era of digitisation and instant gratification, has renewed interest in the millennia-old craft.
QUT’s Art Collection encompasses the work of Australia’s leading practitioners, with many of the objects representing some of the nest examples of the artist’s work. Earth and fire gathers these works to explore the last five decades of ceramic practice with its organic, experimental and seemingly imperfect qualities that are as much about the mark of the maker as the material and process.
