QUT to help transform Australia’s food and transport systems: QUT will play a key role in shaping the future of Australia’s food and transport industries following the announcement of two Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) with a combined value of nearly $444 million.
Growing Australian agriculture through the Internet of Food: QUT has welcomed the new $210 million Food Agility CRC announced by the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science Senator Arthur Sinodinos.
QUT joins new intelligent transport centre: QUT will join a new research and development centre designed to deliver better transport systems for Australia – the iMOVE Collaborative Research Centre.
Fashion entrepreneurship course forges links with Indonesia's garment industry: QUT Fashion School is hosting 25 Indonesian fashion and textile designers, entrepreneurs and members of the Indonesian government this week for a two-week professional training course in international fashion business for the Government’s Australia Awards in Indonesia Program.

- CarAdvice.com and Campus Morning Mail reported QUT’s involvement in the new iMOVE CRC.
- Dr Amanda Mergler’s research regarding school age starting times featured in the Sydney Morning Herald and TVN. She was also interviewed by ABC Radio Brisbane (at 1.21 mins) about girls' school uniforms.
- Lawyers Weekly reported QUT Law Alumni president Judge Paul Howard has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship (Professional Scholar) and will head to Washington to examine court funding processes in the US’s federal jurisdiction.
- Professor Clive Bean told AAP Queensland was One Nation’s heartland and its poor showing in the WA election didn’t mean it was a write off in the east, with the story running on Sky News, SBS, News Corp, Seven News, and Brisbane Times. He was also interviewed by Steve Austin on ABC Radio Brisbane.
- Professor Robert Schweitzer’s research into people’s experiences immediately after sex made it into News Corp papers across the country.
- Tomorrow night’s ABC documentary Bullied, which features Professor Marilyn Campbell and Ian Thorpe (pictured), received widespread coverage ahead of it going to air with previews run on ABC RN, ABCTV Breakfast, The Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The West Australian, The Guardian, News.com, The Young Witness, SBS Online, Q News, Qantas inflight magazine, WHO online and The Weekly Review. 
- Professor Adrian Barnett’s article in Nature Index discussed problems with the NHMRC’s funding system reforms.
- BBC Click followed Troy Cordie’s efforts to digitally preserve Peel Island.
- The Australian featured a piece about the QUT Creative Enterprise Startup Weekend, written by judge Mark Sowerby.
- The Australian also profiled QUT CEA Startup Weekend winner ArtLife, which can sort your digital photos by life events.
- Associate Professor Gary Mortimer spoke to 9 News about a cult cosmetics store opening in Brisbane and online supermarkets, to Seven’s Weekend Sunrise about supermarket tactics and to SmartCompany about the new Bunnings in Newstead.
- The Courier-Mail’s Qweekend profiled architecture graduate Jonathan Morehen.
- The Body and Soul section across News Corp’s metro papers wrote about QUT research on post-workout carbs.
- The Courier-Mail quoted CARRS-Q research in an article on using mobile phones while walking or driving.
- Fairfax sites including The Sydney Morning Herald profiled QUT music lecturers John Willsteed and Zoe Davis (pictured below left with Cub Sport), both nominated for Album of the Year in the Queensland Music Awards.
- Associate Professor Thea Blackler was interviewed by Radio National’s Blueprint for Living about intuitive design of computers and other technology.
- Dr Monique Mann spoke to ABC Radio Current Affairs about facial recognition technology trial in Toowoomba. The story was picked up by ABC online and IAPP.
- Scope chatted to Professor Kerrie Mengersen about her VR project to protect jaguars and to student Josh Mario about the science of paper planes.
- Associate Professor Wendy Scaife was interviewed for ABC News 24 and The World Today about research showing charities have to work harder to persuade Australians to give. The story was also on ABC The Drum.
