- Research from PhD researcher Steve Duhig and Dr Tony Shield (both pictured) into hamstring injuries in AFL players was covered nationally by 7 News.

- ABC News Online and ABC TV across the country reported on Associate Professor Felipe Gonzalez and Dr Dmitry Bratanov’s research using a hyperspectral camera and drone to survey Ningaloo Reef. The story was also covered by Sky News, Dronewatchdogs, Dronepreneur, UAS Vision, and News Corp websites including The Australian.

- 7 Sunrise spoke to Dr Anjali Jaiprakash about how robotics will change healthcare in the future.

- Associate Professor Gary Mortimer was interviewed by 9 News about the announcement from David Jones it is looking to its food business to grow revenue. He also spoke to 9 News about the supermarket wars heating up and told Smart Company Australian retailers shouldn’t panic about the impending arrival of Amazon.

- Smart Company also sought Professor Mortimer’s views for a story about Australian fashion closures and the impact of global brands spreading into suburban shopping centres.

- Research by Dr Jeff Sommerfeld revealing the highest uptake in solar PV systems now comes from families on medium to lower incomes received widespread media coverage including Brisbane Times and other Fairfax sites, Gizmodo, The Fifth Estate and EnvironmentGuru.com.

- Associate Professor Evonne Miller (pictured) and Sarah Holland-Batt were interviewed for ABC RN Breakfast about their research and associated SLQ exhibition featuring residents from BallyCara aged care retirement village. The story was replayed across the ABC Radio network and covered by the Redcliffe and Bayside Herald along with other Quest Newspapers and Aged Care Guide.

- Brett Lewis told 9 News we’ll see more jellyfish washing up on Queensland beaches as the ocean warms.

- 7 News spoke with Adjunct Professor Phil Heywood about the future development plans for the Brisbane River.

- Professor Ken Ostrikov partnered in a CSIRO-led study that found high-quality graphene could be made from soybeans, which was covered by BBC News, Australian Food News, Seed Quest, Food & Beverage Industry News, The Latin American Herald Tribune, Architect Magazine, ZD Net and the CSIRO blog.

- Dr Amanda Mergler’s comments about restrictive girls’ school uniforms were mentioned in a Weekend Australian magazine article.

- Pro Agri spoke to Professor Peter Corke about the use of robots in agriculture.

- QUT law lecturer and Chairman of the Sentencing Advisory Council James Morton spoke to 4BC Drive about the council’s role.

- News that QUT was ranked 18th in the world and number one in Australia by the 2017 edition of the Ranking Web of Repositories was reported by Campus Morning Mail.

- Bmag reported Andy McConnell from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow will run a mini-roadshow on glass at QUT Art Museum.

- Professor Gerard Ledwich told The New Daily the Australian Government’s proposal to fund so-called ‘clean coal’ power stations was a backward step, especially if it was at the expense of investment in renewables like wind and solar.

- Associate Professor Beryl Exley told ABC Radio Brisbane plans to test Year One students on phonetics was an expensive way to confirm what teachers already know.

- Sixteen-Nine.Net reported its next podcast will be about “massive, two-level immersive learning wall”, The Cube (pictured) at QUT.

- News that Audience Republic, a start-up ticketing agency, had raised funds from investors including QUT Creative Enterprise Australia was reported by the Australian Financial Review, StartUpSmart, Dynamic Business and Australian Anthill.  

- Dean Biron wrote about the relationship between music and activism for Overland.

- Campus Morning Mail reported there would be a QUT representative on the advisory board for the Australasia arm of the UK-based Higher Education Academy.

- Content+Technology and Inside Film reported on the ABC partnering with QUT to air student short films Oddbots and Same as it Ever Was.

- Susan Hetherington discussed a range of family matters during her regular segment with ABC Capricornia.

- QUT graduate Olivia Ramsay’s performance in the play The Nursery Web in Melbourne was discussed by BroadwayWorld.com.

- QUT students Jack Milne and  Shannon Lewis are finalists in the prestigious iD International Emerging Designer Awards, reported by Scoop, Foreign Affairs, and Livenews.co.nz.

- Professor Marilyn Campbell spoke to ABC Radio Darwin about how children cope differently with the stress of going back to school.

- Fairfax asked Professor Matthew Rimmer (pictured) to comment on the illegal streaming of a pay-per-view boxing match on Facebook.
