2nd February 2016

AMP chairman Simon McKeon AO will address the first 2016 QUT Business Leaders’ Forum on Wednesday, 2 March at The Hilton Brisbane.

Recognised as a leading Australian businessman, philanthropist, sportsman and one of Australia’s truly inspirational leaders, Mr McKeon, was voted Australian of the Year in 2011 for his humanitarian work.

He is Chancellor of Monash University and was formerly chairman of CSIRO, MYOB and Founding President of the Federal Government’s Takeovers Panel.

His 30-year career with the Macquarie Group culminated in the role of executive chairman in Melbourne.

Mr McKeon was helmsman of the boat that held the world sailing speed record and was a founding patron of the Australian Olympic Sailing Team.

A diagnosis of multiple sclerosis saw him decide on a life of serious engagement with a range of causes and organisations in the not-for-profit sector.

He was chairman of the Business for Millennium Development, formed in 2000 by the largest meeting of world leaders to pursue poverty alleviation in the developing world.

Mr McKeon has served on many boards in the not-for-profit sector, including World Vision Australia, MS Australia and Red Dust Role, which connects well-known Australians with Indigenous youth.

As a leading social entrepreneur, Mr McKeon demonstrates how business and philanthropy go hand-in-hand.

Mr McKeon will speak to his leadership journey, the leadership qualities that matter and his passion for a more equitable world by bringing the business and community sectors closer together.

Tickets are now on sale for the Forum, which will be moderated by leading journalist, Kerry O’Brien.

Tickets are priced at $170 per person or $1600 per table of 10 (GST included).
